Operation Playing it Forward

In 2020, the nation of Israel endured over 140 days in lockdown due to the Covid pandemic. This confinement, while necessary for public health, brought an unintended consequence: tens of thousands of families, particularly children from disadvantaged backgrounds, found themselves stuck at home with little to do.
In homes without private yards, toys, or recreational activities, the strain of constant confinement became a significant challenge. Recognizing this hardship, Joseph Project joined forces with Ruach Tova, a volunteering nonprofit, and The New Amidar, a government housing and welfare agency.
Our collective mission was clear - to gather, clean, sort, and pack thousands of donated toys, games, and educational activities. These items were intended to provide a much-needed outlet for disadvantaged children and families across the country, giving them a source of relief and entertainment during a challenging time.
Our joint efforts resulted in a significant impact: a total of 675 boxes filled with these recreational and educational items were distributed, with an estimated value of nearly 3 million NIS. Through this initiative, we aimed to bring a sense of normalcy and joy to children and families, showing them they were not forgotten even in the midst of a pandemic.
